I discovered Northside Social, a coffee shop – wine bar in Clarendon, while working in D.C. and running all over the city for coffee meetings, performance reviews, and the like.

The scones were one of the clearest signs that I had found a new sanctuary for weekend study escapes, brunches, and perhaps even happy hour meet-ups. I very seldom order scones as I’m disappointed by dry, crumbly pastry. Northside Social’s scones, however, were simply delicious, precisely what I had imagined a scone ought to be: firm on the outside for a bit of texture, just moist enough on the inside, studded with fruit, and not overly sugary.
