The bowl of steamed mussels is one of the best appetizers at Left Bank. The trick to this dish is using the shells to scoop up the white-wine broth (with the strong flavor of shallots and garlic) along with the meat. Afterward I sop up the extra broth and spinach garnish with the complimentary French bread, which sometimes means I’m quite full before the main entree is even served.
