It’s strangely difficult to describe what the number one specialty is at Chen San Ding (陳三鼎), a drink chain common in Tainan – but for the rest of Taiwan, you have to come to Gongguan. Their specialty at first looks like your standard pearl milk tea made with fresh milk, but is infused with a syrupy sweetness that seems to come from half-melted “frog eggs” (青蛙下蛋) that are chewier and yet, softer on the outside than your average pearl. The drink at first appears to be tri-colored, but a few good shakes mix everything for the perfect postprandial treat.
