Vegetables, even fried ones, are hard to come by in Taiwan, doubly so after a typhoon (and then you must be willing and able to pay.) Fortunately, I am well-stocked with multivitamins.

This summer, The House in San Francisco served excellent green bean tempura paired with a slightly sour vinaigrette, a surprisingly light appetizer for two or even four people.
